I live in the Washington DC suburbs, so we pretty much have the typical suburbia wildlife in our yard -- rabbits, squirrels, robins, cardinals, etc. So imagine my surprise when I looked out my office window and looked down on a young red-shouldered hawk, perched in the tree in our back yard! I guess they aren't that uncommon in this area, but still an unusual site in the middle of our subdivision.
